Upgrade kits for Eaton’s Brake Metering Valve (BMV), Part Number 71404 and Dual Brake Metering Valve Part Number 70404-1 are available as a corrective action. These upgrade kits are offered in response to customer reports of slow leakage of hydraulic fluid from the input shaft seal when exposed to extremely cold temperatures for extended periods (ref. Eaton Service Bulletin SB71404-32-03). There are two options available to bring affected units into compliance: •         Procure Modification Kit from Eaton for upgrade in field •         Send the BMV to Eaton for Overhaul and Modification Kit Installation Warranty coverage through Boeing is available on certain aircraft serial numbers. 737-NG within

the Boeing warranty period as of October 3, 2006 are eligible for the modification kit at no charge. Benefits resulting from performing this upgrade include: •         Improved reliability •         Fewer removals due to leaking The 737-NG Brake Metering Valve Upgrade comes with a 12 month overhaul warranty and 28 day TAT. Eaton manages Boeing’s warranty for customers that utilize Eaton’s Los Angeles facility. Customer support for this upgrade is provided through Eaton’s regional customer support and technical support staff. A dedicated spares pool is also available to maximize shop performance and minimize TAT.
